Japón eSIM

Yes. It roams onto NTT docomo, Rakuten Mobile, KDDI/au and SoftBank in Japón. It is a data-only plan, so your own number stays on your normal SIM for calls and texts.

How much data can I get for Japón?

Plans run from 1 GB up to 999 GB. Prices start at €2.95.

How long is the Japón eSIM valid?

Between 1 and 180 days, depending on the plan you pick.

Does the Japón eSIM support 5G?

Yes, where the local network offers it. The eSIM connects on 3G, 4G and 5G in Japón, and your phone picks the fastest available.

When will I receive my Japón eSIM?

Within minutes of payment. The QR code is emailed to the address you give at checkout, and it is also on your order page, so you can install the eSIM before you leave home.

Do I need to turn on data roaming?

Yes. After installing the eSIM, switch Data Roaming on for the eSIM line in your phone settings. The eSIM works by roaming onto local networks, so it cannot get online with roaming switched off. This does not cost anything extra.

Can I use this eSIM on an iPhone or Samsung?

Yes, on any carrier-unlocked phone that supports eSIM. That covers iPhone XR and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and most other phones released since 2019. To check, look for an EID number under Settings, General, About on iPhone, or dial *#06# on Android.
